It’s been six years now since legendary alt and emo rockers My Chemical Romance first reunited, initially for a single LA show just before broader touring plans were halted by the pandemic, then for a more extensive tour and festival appearances in 2022, returning them to Nashville for the first time in 15 years to headline Bridgestone Arena. While a new album still remains elusive (they dropped a single, “The Foundations of Decay,” in 2022, and rumblings of more music have continued since), MCR have been delighting fans by leaning into their legacy, recently releasing a deluxe version of their breakout LP Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, and embarking on a tour in recent months celebrating their seminal magnum opus, The Black Parade, where they’ve played the album in full (along with other favorites), complete with an epic and theatrical stage show.
When those initial Black Parade shows were announced, we were bummed to see that it wasn’t coming any closer than Atlanta, but held out hope more could be added. And, thankfully, that hope was not misplaced, as a new leg of North American dates for next summer return the legendary band to Nashville, this time at Nissan Stadium on Aug. 13, 2026, along with post-hardcore and pop punk outfit Pierce the Veil! Tickets are going to go quick, and the general on sale begins today (Friday), Sept. 26 at noon CT right here.
Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, My Chemical Romance started as more of a post-hardcore band with 2002 debut I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, rising through the ranks of the flouring punk scene of the time, before inking a major label deal and finding unexpected breakout success with their classic ’04 followup Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. 2006’s The Black Parade is what undeniably made them mainstream stars though, and remains an enduring classic of the era, perhaps even bigger now than it was back then (an emo era band playing football stadiums in the 2020s is a stunning achievement). 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys would be their final full-length, before the group split in 2013, and released a final single, “Fake Your Death,” as part of a greatest hits compilation a year later. Thankfully, MCR is back and better than ever, and their return to Nashville will undoubtedly be one of next year’s most-anticipated shows!
