Folk, Americana, and bluegrass supergroup I’m With Her had met and crossed paths coming up in the bluegrass scene in the 2000s, but it was an impromptu performance together at the 2014 Telluride Bluegrass Festival, where they realized how much chemistry that they had as collaborators, that the group was formed, adopting the name I’m With Her soon after (and before it became a slogan for the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign, which was unaffiliated). The trio- Sara Watkins (violin, guitar, ukulele), Sarah Jarosz (banjo, mandolin, octave mandolin, guitar), and Aoife O’Donovan (keyboard, guitar)- quickly made a name for themselves in the contemporary folk scene, and by 2018 debut LP, See You Around, they were wowing critics and fans alike with their rich harmonies, soaring arrangements, and fusion of classic bluegrass, modern folk, and mature pop, earning both an Americana Award and a Grammy.
The first half of the 2020s saw the group (who are sort of the boygenius of Americana, in our humble opinion) take a pause to focus more on their also-flourishing solo careers, but, as expected, I’m With Her recently returned once more, releasing sophomore LP Wild and Clear and Blue back in May. Another brilliant, critically-acclaimed, and award-winning work, I’m With Her’s latest is more layered, confident, and emotionally dense; the type of effort only a group who’ve spent more than a decade together ca make, produced marvelously by Bonny Light Horseman’s Josh Kaufman. Not just one of the best folk records of 2025, but one of the best records of 2025 period, I’m With Her will play their first Nashville headliner in six years (not counting a recent Grimey’s in-store, Grand Ole Opry appearance, or AmericanaFest showcase) on Nov. 16 at The Ryman Auditorium!
