Hailing from Canada, though currently based in LA, electronic duo Bob Moses was formed in the flourishing Brooklyn underground in the early 2010s, meshing the house, trance, and broader electronic sensibilities of Jimmy Vallance with the more conventionally rock background of Tom Howie (the pair had been schoolmates and acquaintances back home, but didn’t seriously start collaborating until both independently moving stateside). 2015 debut LP Days Gone By would instantly shoot the duo to wider acclaim, thanks to their genre-bending, dance-primed, rock informed sound, and more attention to vocals and lyrical depth than many of their peers in the electronic scene at the time. Tons of tours, festival appearances, collaborations, remixes, and even a Grammy have followed, with the pair’s latest and fourth full-length, BLINK, arriving last fall, after both bandmates celebrated becoming first-time fathers.
In support of their latest, Bob Moses return to Nashville on April 7, for a rare co-headliner (they’ve only played fests and support on larger tours over the last decade) at The Pinnacle, along with another buzzy favorite of the 2010s, LA indie pop trio Cannons. Formed in the early 2010s by childhood friends Ryan Clapham and Paul Davis, after meeting vocalist Michelle Joy, Cannons received some early attention for couple of EPs and their self-released debut album, but it was 2019 sophomore effort, Shadows, and viral single “Fire For You,” which earned Cannons a whole new level of fame, as well as a major record deal with Columbia. Combining moody, atmospheric and lush electropop with dream pop and hypnotic, dance-primed indie pop, Cannons have released three more fantastic LPs in the 2020s, including brand new effort Everything Glows, their most introspective, earnest, and vulnerable work to date. A compliment to Bob Moses, though more indie leaning than electronic, these two artists make for a great and varied double billing.
Opening up the show is quirky LA electro-pop artist Oxis, who makes thoughtful, sparse, and moody electronic pop songs which, so far happen to all be themed around fish. We always support showing up for the opener, but for this one you should REALLY show up for the opener, as everything Oxis has put out so far has been incredible, and she seems uniquely primed for big things, with a fresh style and immense talent that rivals the headliners’. Tickets are still available right here while they last, but we’re thrilled to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Preview the lineup and enter below.
