Do you follow twitter? If you follow some of the bigger music sites, like Pitchfork and Stereogum and whatnot, you probably saw your timeline fill up with play by play that Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Magnum was playing an impromptu set in New York the other night during an organized protest on Wall Street. …

Here’s the video that got Hank, Jr fired…
I’m not even about to get into politics on this thing, but I was as shocked as everyone when “Are You Ready For Some Football” didn’t come on before ESPN’s Monday Night Football last week. I read a few articles, watched a little SportsCenter, and found a clip of the incident in question. See…

Childish Gambino, Cannery Ballroom, Tonight in Nashville
Do you remember me talking about Childish Gambino a couple of months ago? Well, the actor/tv writer/sketch comedian/rapper Donald Glover has been busy. YUCK!, Mercy Lounge, Tonight In Nashville
It’s a funny looking headline, I know. But, if you haven’t heard about the band YUCK! yet, then you have probably been hiding under a rock for the past few months… If that is the case, I’m not judging, but I’m glad I caught your attention to tell you what to do tonight in…

Listen to Bright Eyes cover The White Stripes for charity
When I first heard this, I couldn’t imagine what White Stripe’s song Bright Eyes could possibly pull off a cover of. Then I read it, and it was the “Ah, of course” moment…. they’re covering the impossibly cute “We Are Gonna Be Friends.” This cover is for a charity album, called Cool For School:…

Get To Know: Papa
Did you see Girls perform last month at Mercy Lounge? If so, I hope you got there early enough to see the opener, Papa. These guys were awesome. It was a high energy kind of soul music packed with pop hooks that you could immediately tell was the musical darling of drummer Darren Weiss. …
