It’s been a minute since we last updated you about Dashboard Confessional, the iconic ’00s emo project of Chris Carrabba, who, for more than a decade now has resided in the Nashville area. Initially formed more than 25 years ago, as a side project during his short but influential stint fronting beloved Florida emo outfit Further Seems Forever, Dashboard immediately catapulted to fame with 2000 debut The Swiss Army Romance and swift follow-up The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, and broke into the mainstream as massive stars with 2003’s A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar. Dashboard would notch more hits, remain an MTV and radio fixture, tour the world, and cement their legacy as one of the 2000s emo scene’s most lauded bands, but ultimately split in 2011, with Chris trying his hand at the burgeoning indie folk of that decade with Twin Forks.
It wouldn’t be long until Dashboard mounted a return, though, regrouping in 2015 (while Chris remains the primary creative force, DC is a band, though only bassist Scott Schoenbeck remains from their pre-reunion era), and going on to release two more albums since. The band have stayed pretty active over the last decade+ on tour and at festivals, and have played Nashville at a regular clip, often at bigger venues and co-headlining with acts like Third Eye Blind or The Fray. But it was nearly a decade ago, in early 2017, that the band last really commanded our attention with an extra special Music City residency, performing five nights at The Basement East with a slate of all-local openers, during which Carrabba also played a solo show at The Basement.
Announced yesterday and set to go on sale today, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. CDT right here, Dashboard Confessional is set to play their smallest show in Nashville since that aforementioned residency- an intimate, all ages, solo acoustic show this Monday, Oct. 19 at The End! Tickets are, of course, going to go FAST, so if you’re seeing this in time, you’d better ready that refresh button.
