Phoebe Bridgers to Play Bridgestone Arena Oct. 10

One of the most beloved and enigmatic singer-songwriters of the modern era, emotionally-charged indie rock and folk artist Phoebe Bridgers erupted to indie stardom nearly a decade ago, with her now-classic 2017 debut LP Stranger in the Alps, before cementing her generational talent bona fides, and further finding mainstream attention with follow-up Punisher in 2020. Though that era was prolific, also featuring the formation of supergroup Better Oblivion Community Center with Conor Oberst, and dropping an eponymous debut with the project in 2019, it was most definitely her other supergroup, boygenius, formed a year prior, and initially meant to be a one-off EP between three artists on tour together, that would have the most widespread cultural resonance. Years after their debut EP in 2018, boygenius regrouped in 2023 for their first full-length, The Record, which was met with absolutely massive, viral success, earning the group multiple Grammys and high-profile performances around the globe. Since that Grammy win though, (which followed the aforementioned 2023 boygenius record and tour cycle, which itself followed Phoebe’s run Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, and several years of touring in support of Punisher), at the start of 2024, Phoebe has largely been off the grid, taking a well-earned breather.

All of that is to say, even though it’s been six years now since the last Phoebe Bridgers solo album, she was VERY active before that two-year hiatus. And, has been near-constantly speculated and rumored during the break, she’s been busy at work on new music, with a highly anticipated third album seemingly on the horizon (though not quite yet formally announced). Just a month ago, and announced in a very old school way- with printed handbills- Phoebe made her surprise return for an intimate show in Roswell, New Mexico, then proceeded to embark on a whole tour in that same style, announcing each show the morning of with flyers, performing in small venues, only selling tickets in person, and requiring all phones and smart devices to be locked up. That tour- during which she debuted multiple new songs- capped off with an epic $1, phone-free show at Madison Square Garden (the only conventionally large venue on the run, and the only one where tickets were available online), and was immediately followed by the announcement of a more traditional, ticketed arena tour- The Lost Tour- set to kick off this fall in North America, before heading to Europe.

Bridgers’ first solo run in more than three years, The Last Tour (which is also phone and device free) brings her to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 10, by far Phoebe’s largest Music City headliner to date (she last opened for Taylor Swift at Nissan Stadium in 2023, and played a students-only show at MTSU not long before, but her last public headliner was back in 2021, at Ascend Amphitheater). Alex G will open, and in order to score a chance at tickets on pre-sale, fans must visit this link to sign up by 11:59 p.m. on June 7.
