Out in support of recent sophomore LP tell me when you’re older, SoCal alt/indie pop duo DWLLRS recently returned to Nashville to headline Exit/In, an upgrade from their last Music City performance early last year at adjacent, intimate venue The End.

Openers Beach Chapel and thebandfriday, both also hailing from California and both also channeling a shimmering indie pop sound complimentary to DWLLRS’, provided a powerful, impressive start to the night, and got the crowd sufficiently warmed up and feeling the positivity.

Though longtime friends Bren Eissman and Joey Spurgeon first began releasing music as DWLLRS in 2020, just before the pandemic struck, it wasn’t until early last year (around the time they played The End) that their first full-length album, Cameraman, finally arrived. Since then, the band have been garnering a lot of attention for their nostalgic, dreamy, lush, and minimalist flavor of indie pop and alt rock, which they’ve honed even more with their sophomore record, and forged a captivating live show to match. The vibes were upbeat and communal throughout the performance, and the pair treated an enthusiastic crowed to favorites like “Driving,” “new spirits,” “Blue Spirits,” and “one of those nights.”
