One of the most enduring and popular acts to spring from the flourishing 2000s metal scene, North Carolina’s Between the Buried and Me formed in Raleigh in at the turn of the millennium, and rose through the ranks of heavy music throughout the aughts, heralded for their progressive, technical sound, which felt at home with and occasionally incorporated influences of the trending metalcore scene of that time, though always more original and elevated. After a prolific first decade, which saw a series of hard-hitting records shoot them to fame and earn wider renown (especially 2007’s Colors), as they toured the world with both a who’s who of contemporary metal stars as well as some major legendary acts, BTBAM entered the 2010s with a freshness and sense of reinvention which helped them creatively endure moreso than some of their scene peers, falling into a more conceptual, mature, but still blissfully heavy and progressive sound over their second decade. Though the 2020s have been a little lighter on new music than the 20 years prior, BTBAM returned last year with 11th album The Blue Nowhere, a great new effort which they are currently on tour in support of. No strangers to Music City over the years (they last played Brooklyn Bowl last year on the first leg of their Blue Nowhere tour), Between the Buried and Me are set to return to the area on June 19, this time for an extra special performance underground at The Caverns in nearby Pelham, along with avant-garde metal outfit Imperial Triumphant and west coast technical death metal group Fallujah. Tickets and camping options are still available here, but we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets and camping to one lucky fan!
As we feel inclined to mention any time we tell you about a show at The Caverns, this venue is one of the most unparalleled concert experiences you can have anywhere, hosting performances underground in a literal cave (see below), and we think it’s always worth the trek from Nashville anytime an artist we love is on the calendar.
