[TICKET GIVEAWAY] This Will Destroy You w/ Luke Schneider & Dreamage | Oct. 7 @ Exit/In

One of the most lauded instrumental bands of the 21st century, Texas post-rockers This Will Destroy You combine influences of shoegaze, doom metal, and ambient rock to forge their dynamic and critically-acclaimed sound. Formed in San Marcos, Texas in 2005, and helmed initially by guitarists Jeremy Galindo and Christopher King (with drummer Robi Gonzalez and bassist Jesse Kees joining almost a decade ago), TWDY self-recorded and self-released their debut LP (then intended as a demo) Young Mountain, in 2005, before partnering with Magic Bullet Records for a more formal re-release the following year. The group would find fervent underground buzz and positive praise from critics, honing their sound across more great releases like 2008’s eponymous This Will Destroy You and 2011’s “doomgazing” Tunnel Blanket, before 2014 fourth LP Another Language managed to attract more widespread attention and commercial success, cementing the group as one of the greatest contemporary artists in the ambient and post-rock space.

TWDY have stayed active over the last decade, firming up a more stable lineup and releasing several more albums- 2018’s New Others Part One and New Others Part Two, and 2020’s Vespertine– but, last year, did something very unusual: they essentially got a divorce. Rather than disbanding, the core members of Galindo and King decided to part ways to focus on solo and collaborative works and new projects, while also separately touring with distinct versions This Will Destroy You, honoring their legacy and catalogue (though, presumably, not making any new music under the moniker for now). Following a Young Mountain tour with Galindo version back in the summer (which hit The Basement East in June), the Chris King version, which retains the rhythm section of Gonzalez and Kees, and adds multi-instrumentalists Masaru Takaku and Emily Xander, is currently on the road playing Another Language in full in honor of the record’s 10th anniversary, and will headline Exit/In on Oct. 7 with local ambient steel guitarist Luke Schneider and King and Kees’ new ambient project Dreamage.

Tickets are still available here, but we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Preview the lineup and enter below.
