As announced earlier this summer, beloved indie rock and folk singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers is finally back with her latest solo chapter after six long years, first returning to the stage with a series of intimate pop up shows across the country, before announcing a full-on arena tour for the fall, bringing her to Nashville Oct. 10 & 11 to perform at Bridgestone Arena. Since that tour announcement, her highly-anticipated third album was officially named and dated- Lost Weekend, set to drop Aug. 14- and Bridgers released excellent first single “Lost Boys” (watch the video below).
In honor of her new LP, Phoebe has announced a series of listening parties next week, hosted in dozens of planetariums across the world (continuing the space theme that has been a big part of this record rollout), including at the Sudekum Planetarium at Nashville’s own Adventure Science Center. The local listening parties will take place Aug. 12, 13, & 14 with three events each day, on sale now and already selling fast (get your tickets right here). More than just an early chance to hear Bridgers’ latest, “Each listening session pairs the album with one of two original visual accompaniments: a custom dome show designed by renowned night-sky photographer Babak Tafreshi, or a unique immersive laser show designed by Laser Fantasy. Both presentations offer their own atmospheric perspective that turns your first listen into a shared sonic and visual experience.” The Nashville events all appear to be the Laser Fantasy version.
Though a few artists have hosted similar events at the planetarium, it’s definitely a rare occurrence, and certainly a unique and immersive way to experience new music for the first time. As with her concerts, these events will be phone and camera-free, and will require attendees to lock up their devices.
